FACILITIES

West River Sailing Club has fantastic facilities for large scale events and a good day on the water. Our fleet of support boats for inshore and outer courses, coupled with our ground facilities make us a very capable host for a range of events.

OUR WATERFRONT

Our 270 foot pier is always available for member usage along with our private WRSC moorings on Tent House Creek. There are two large floating docks available to tie dinghies and small boats too. The Learn to Sail programs maintains floating docks to keep Club 420s and Albacores on.

LAUNCH CAPABILITIES

We offer beach launching from our clubhouse lawn and two cranes in our wake-protected basin. From these launch sites, it is a very short sail out to the race courses and the Chesapeake Bay. We maintain the ability to quickly launch large numbers of boats by beach or crane that has allowed us to host large scale events. Historically, we have hosted nationals and internationals for many of our current and past fleets.

RACE SUPPORT

We maintain a fleet of support boats that allow us to run large scale events easily. The Hallie Q, our old dickerson Bay-built boat, is the core of our fleet supported by various center consoles boats.

OUR CLUBHOUSE

Designed by David Shaw, a past commodore, in 1960, our clubhouse has meet the needs of our members since it's construction.  The great room is large enough to measure sails of all of our fleets or to host large indoor gatherings like our membership meeting. There is a commercial kitchen ran by Karen Wilder, restrooms and changing rooms, and a separate "board room" for smaller gatherings like classes.
